Africa-Press – Tanzania. The Director of the Department of Global Strategy and World Politics at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Thobias Makoba, has met with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Dar es Salaam, Professor William Anangisye, to discuss strategies for strengthening cooperation between the two institutions.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed how the ministry’s new department could collaborate with the university, particularly in the area of research.
This includes capacity building for staff, organizing joint conferences, and coordinating international meetings.
They also explored strategies to expand partnerships with other universities across Africa in order to promote knowledge and experience sharing.
The meeting took place today, February 18, 2026, at the Vice Chancellor’s office in Ubungo, Dar es Salaam. In addition to academic and diplomatic matters, the leaders emphasized the importance of developing strategies to promote the use of the Kiswahili language as a tool for enhancing diplomatic and economic cooperation at the international level.
For his part, Professor Anangisye expressed the University of Dar es Salaam’s readiness to work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in implementing the matters agreed upon during the meeting, for the mutual benefit of both parties.
Ambassador Makoba thanked Professor Anangisye for the warm reception and pledged that the ministry would continue strengthening the partnership in order to advance economic diplomacy and promote the broader national interest.
