Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Geita District Council in Geita Region has successfully achieved 95 per cent of the implementation of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), 2020/25 election manifesto.
The Vice Chairperson of the Council, Ms Khadija Said, made the statement recently during the Second Quarter Councilors’ Meeting for the 2024/25 financial year.
She attributed the success to the cooperation between councilors, leaders, and the council officials, all of whom have diligently worked to address various challenges.
Ms Khadija said that, through funding from the sixth phase government, the council had effectively ensured that every ward, village, and sub-village achieves potential social services, particularly water, health, and education.
“If there is any councilor who has failed to fulfil the promises made in their ward, I urge my fellow councilors to remember their commitments by addressing the community’s challenges,” she said.
The Councilor of Bukoli Ward, Mr Faraji Self, noted that implementation of the manifesto in his ward has achieved 93pc, with significant efforts being made to achieve 100pc completion before the current term ends.
He mentioned ongoing projects as construction of a surgery building, a dispensary, and a laboratory in Ntono village, as well as a new secondary school.
“The major challenge we face is the National e-Procurement System of Tanzania (NEST) which has been problematic, but we appreciate the officials for their great work on these projects, actually there is no sabotage,” he said.
The Busanda Ward Councilor, Mr Seleman Gamala, stated that in the past four years, the ward has received more than 2bn/- for various projects, alongside constituency development funds.
