Africa-Press – Tanzania. YOUNG Africans Head Coach Pedro Gonçalves has lauded his players after a commanding 3-0 victory over Pamba Jiji in a Mainland Premier League clash at CCM Kirumba Stadium on Wednesday.
Speaking after the match, Gonçalves said his players did an excellent job controlling the game from start to finish. “Congratulations to my players, they did a great job today. We played well and controlled the game for the most part.”
The coach also expressed his gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support. “I am very grateful to our fans; they turned out in large numbers and have supported us even during tough times,” he added.
With 44 points from 18 matches, Young Africans continue to assert their dominance, while Pamba Jiji’s troubles against the league leaders deepen, having suffered the same 3-0 defeat last September.
Despite the comfortable scoreline, Gonçalves admitted that Pamba Jiji posed a tough challenge. “We had a good game against our opponents. Playing in these conditions is difficult, but we are getting used to it,” he noted.
“Mohamed Damaro played very well and contributed significantly today. I am satisfied with his effort and the team’s performance as a whole,” Gonçalves said.
On the other side, Pamba Jiji Head Coach Francis Baraza acknowledged the defeat but remained optimistic about his team’s future. “We will continue to learn and improve. This result motivates us to work harder,” he said
Baraza commended his players for their determination despite the disappointing result. Following the results, Pamba Jiji are sixth with 26 points from 18 matches.
Reflecting on the match, Baraza admitted that conceding an early goal disrupted their strategy. “After the first goal, we had to adjust our game plan. Losing our first home game is tough, but we will analyse and correct our mistakes,” he concluded.
