Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE hunt for maximum points continues in three venues with a match between Namungo and Young Africans the top order of the today’s Premier League fixture.
The stand-up fixture of the day will see Namungo hosting the league leaders Young Africans at Ilulu Stadium in Lindi, the main focus game for many football fans in today’s fixture.
Mbeya City will be at their Sokoine Stadium home ground welcoming Mtibwa Sugar while at Kaitaba Stadium in Kagera, hosts Kagera Sugar will face debutants Geita Gold in another pick of the day fixture.
However, all eyes will be directed at Ilulu Stadium to see if Namungo can end Yanga’s five-match unbeaten run which enabled them to lead the race with 15 points.
They are the only team in the contest to stamp 100 per cent run of the campaign after claiming five straight wins from five games.
The Jangwani street-based outfits arrived in Lindi on Thursday evening from Dar es Salaam and after their match there, their next stop will be at Sokoine Stadium where they will lock horns with debutants Mbeya Kwanza.
For Namungo, they know that they have a good chance to stun Yanga after losing 1-0 to the defending champions Simba in their previous league. Meddie Kagere scored the winner in the late minute.
As such, they will be very cautious not to lose three points at their home ground.
Namungo, however, will miss the services of their Head Coach, Hemed Morocco who is facing a three-match suspension.
The former Yanga striker, David Molinga will be facing his ex-employer for the first time this season and is likely to be keen to punish them.
For Mbeya City, they too have a difficult puzzle to solve against Mtibwa Sugar who are yet to claim a victory as such; all their energy will be placed over them.
Joseph Omog’s charges are struggling to dance to the tune of the season; therefore they have been presented with another opportunity to prove their worthiness in the marathon.
At Kaitaba Stadium, Kagera Sugar will be hunting their third win of the season as they bring into the ring Geita Gold, who are yet to find a new Head Coach after the sacking of Etienne Ndayiragije.
Kagera Sugar have 8 points collected from five encounters and are among the teams seen by pundits to do well in this year’s contest while their opponents, under Felix Minziro, have generated 2 points from five matches.
