Africa-Press – Tanzania. Young Africans 49-match unbeaten run in the NBC Premier League has hit a rock after suffering a 2-1 defeat from Ihefu at Highland Estate Stadium in Mbarali, Mbeya on Tuesday afternoon.
The defending champions seized the lead in the 9th minute courtesy of Yannick Bangala’s header which was not enough to save the sinking ship.
Trailing by a goal to nil did not scare the hosting team as they kept composure until in the 39th minute when Never Tigere made it level with a blistering free-kick which dropped behind Yanga’s goalie Djigui Diarra.
At 1-1, Ihefu looked a lethal side as they dominated the midfield battle diffusing any danger directed towards their territory.
In the second half, the Mbarali based team continued to press hard taking advantage of the defending champions who played on slow pace until in the 62nd minute when Lenny Kissu hit the last nail on the coffin.
Here, time was running out for Yanga as the losing demon was slowly engulfing them.
However, at the sound of the final whistle, the Jangwani based club surrendered maximum points at the away venue for the first time this season.
Despite the nosedive, Yanga still command the Premier League table with 32 points in the bag while Ihefu have moved from the bottom place to 13th on the log with 11 points.
