German defender Yann Bisseck scored his second goal of the season on a diving header in the 37th minute of the match after Alessandro Bastoni whipped a cross from the left flank.
Inter, who won 10 league games in a row, boosted their points to 75 in 28 weeks to go 18 points clear on top of the Italian league.
Their nearest opponents, Juventus, have 57 points and will host sixth-place Atalanta on Sunday.
Following the home defeat, Bologna is still fourth with 51 points.
Called the Nerazzurri, Inter last won the Italian title in 2021.
The 2023-24 Serie A season will end in 10 weeks.
