Africa-Press – Tanzania. ZANZIBAR Football Federation (ZFF) has appointed Farouk Mohammed Alkareem “Farouk Kareem” as the chairman of CONIFA World Cup committee ahead of the May tournament.
The CONIFA World Football Cup is an international football tournament organised by CONIFA, an umbrella association for states, minorities, stateless peoples and regions unaffiliated with FIFA.
It has been held every two years since 2014. This tournament is the successor of the Viva World Cup which was held from 2006 to 2012.
Farouk, a reporter with ITV and Radio One, is among 17 officials who form the committee which will supervise organising and running the tournament.
His appointment was revealed here yesterday by the Acting Secretary General of ZFF Kibabu Haji Hassan.
According to Hassan, Ali Saleh Albert has been appointed as the committee’s Vice Chairman while Mbarouk Suleiman Othman has been appointed to serve as the committee’s secretary general.
Other members of the committee include Omar Mohammed Awadhi, Seif Mohammed Seif, Salum Ali Haji, Hamza Idrissa, Salum Khamis Haji, Nasra Juma Mohammed, Hassan Hussein and Juma Mmanga Juma.
Others are Rashid Seif Mohammed, Muhsini Ali Rajab “Kamara”, Juma Suleiman Haji, Khamis Makame, Abdulamin Mohammed Juma and Zahir Rashid.
“The committee has been given a mandate to organise, supervise and run the competition. We hope everyone will execute his or her duties to enable Zanzibar host a successful event,” he added.
