Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Kariakoo International Market has officially begun preparations for a new five-year Strategic Plan 2026-2031, a move aimed at making the international market provide better services, on time, and taking into account technological changes emerging in the world.
The plan comes after the 2021-2025 plan completed its implementation period with great success.
Speaking at the opening of the training on the analysis and preparation of the plan, the General Manager of the Kariakoo Markets Organization, Ashiraf Abdulkarim, said the preparation of the plan has involved stakeholders including the Prime Minister’s Office, TAMISEMI, Kariakoo Traders, Planners and other stakeholders to have a better strategic plan, which took the ideas of many and responds to the desires of each and thus be easy in its implementation.
Abdulkarim added that in preparing the plan, the Organization will consider various documents, including the National Development Vision 2025-2050, the President’s speech when he opened the 13th Parliament, the Fourth National Development Plan, the 2025-2030 Election Manifesto as well as the various laws and guidelines that established the Kariakoo Organization.
“This training will be held for five days and will be ongoing. The goal is to have a good, feasible, and measurable strategic plan every year for a period of five years that will make the Kariakoo market a leader and one that provides various services and not only products,” Abdulkarim noted.
He said that the plan, when completed, will transform the Kariakoo market into a modern business center, with modern operating and service delivery systems.
Abdulkarim said that the new Kariakoo will have modern infrastructure ranging from parking areas, fire extinguishing systems, emergency areas, adequate ventilation, and technological operating systems. We want to serve Tanzanians in a better and more modern environment.
For her part, the Planning and Business Manager of Kariakoo Corporation, Mwinga Luhoyo, said the preparation of the plan involves an evaluation of the previous 2021–2025 plan to identify successes, challenges, and areas that need improvement.
The manager added that the goal is to ensure that the plan is in line with national strategies and aims to increase productivity, strengthen trade, and promote Kariakoo’s contribution to the national economy.
