Maasai returns to CCM to reclaim Mbulu seat

Africa-Press – Tanzania. Former Mbulu Constituency Member of Parliament, Flatei Maasai, who initially served under the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) banner before defecting to ACT-Wazalendo, has announced his return to CCM. He plans to contest for the same parliamentary seat under the CCM ticket.

Following his return, Mr Maasai was nominated to run for parliament and has pledged to actively campaign for CCM’s presidential candidate, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, in the upcoming general election scheduled for October 29.

Speaking to CCM’s Mainland Vice-Chairman, Stephen Wasira, Flatei explained that his decision to rejoin CCM was influenced by discussions with CCM elders, who have guided him since childhood. Their advice encouraged him to return.

“After our discussion, I felt it was right to return to Chama Cha Mapinduzi. Listening to elders is important and wise. Heeding their advice will help me continue contributing to building the party,” he said.

During their conversation, Mr. Wasira urged CCM members nationwide who were not nominated for parliamentary seats to continue supporting the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, as well as CCM MPs and councillors.

He emphasized that failing to secure a nomination does not mean the end of one’s membership in CCM; otherwise, the party would lose many members.

Vice-Chairman Wasira reminded Flatei that membership in CCM is not contingent on holding a parliamentary seat.

“Many members are not MPs. Building the party and the country is not the job of MPs alone. Even standing on the campaign stage encouraging people to vote for Samia is important. That is the work of CCM,” he concluded.
