Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Minister of Works, Abdallah Ulega, has directed the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) to submit all recommendations from the 22nd Annual Engineers Day conference to the ministry, emphasizing the importance of sustainable national development.
Speaking during the official closing ceremony of the event held in Dar es Salaam, Minister Ulega made a strong call for accountability among engineers.
“I am instructing the Board to take disciplinary action against engineers who fail to uphold professional integrity and the oaths they took. Such individuals should not be given any further projects,” he declared.
He stressed that upholding ethics in engineering is critical for the success and credibility of development projects in the country.
“This is about the broader interest of our development projects. Engineers who compromise on professionalism and integrity cannot be tolerated,” he added.
Among the key stakeholders present at the conference was Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency(TARURA), which plays a significant role in infrastructure development across the country.
Representing TARURA, engineer Emphraim Kalunde reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to collaboration with all engineers in the country, including those who have joined in ERB.
“We will continue working closely with all engineers in the country to ensure that citizens benefit from quality roads and reliable infrastructure. We remain committed to the maintenance and improvement of key development projects,” Kalunde said.
The Annual Engineers Day brought together professionals, policymakers, and institutions to reflect on challenges, share innovations, and strengthen the engineering sector’s role in building a better Tanzania.
