Africa-Press – Tanzania. Mtwara Port has reinforced its position as a major gateway for cargo after an MV ANA OCEAN from China berthed carrying a large shipment of buses, heavy trucks, trailers, and construction equipment — a total of 1,279 items weighing 7,704 tonnes.
The cargo is destined for Tanzanian clients, with some shipments headed to customers in Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Burundi, and Rwanda.
The arrival of these vessels highlights the success of Mtwara Port’s marketing strategies, which aim to serve both domestic and regional markets.
According to information from the Tanzania Ports Authorities, the goal is to establish Mtwara Port as the main trade gateway for the Mtwara Development Corridor.
Moreover, TPA noted that handling and servicing such shipments demonstrate the port’s capacity to provide safe, efficient, and high-quality services.
“Modern equipment, enabling infrastructure, and ongoing improvements, Mtwara Port is increasingly the preferred choice for shippers and traders seeking reliable operations at all times,” TPA noted.
