Africa-Press – Tanzania. ZANZIBAR President Dr Hussein Mwinyi has appointed Mr Saidi Kiondo Athumani as the new Commissioner General of the Zanzibar Revenue Authority (ZRA).
Mr Athumani, who previously served as the Commissioner of Customs and Excise at the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), takes over from Mr Yusuph Juma Mwenda, who was appointed Commissioner General of TRA by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in July last year.
According to a press statement released by Zanzibar’s Chief Secretary, Engineer Zena Ahmed Saidi, Mr Athumani’s appointment took effect on Saturday, February 8, 2025. In addition to his leadership roles, Mr Athumani has also served as a lecturer at the TRA’s Institute of Tax Administration.
His appointment comes at a crucial time, as ZRA intensifies efforts to strengthen tax collection and revenue management in Zanzibar.
