Africa-Press – Tanzania. The National Environment Management Council (NEMC) has provided environmental education at the Annual Residential Address Conference and Postal Services Technology Exhibition 2026, currently taking place at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam.

The conference, which is scheduled to conclude on February 8, 2026, focuses on environmental conservation and management in line with the Environmental Management Act of 2004 and its regulations.

Speaking at the conference, NEMC Chief Engineer Jampyon Mbugi said that proper use of residential addresses is an important tool for strengthening environmental management through the National Addressing System (NAPA). He noted that the system will enable NEMC to access vital information that will enhance planning and effective management of environmental conservation activities.

He added that the environmental education being provided aims to build public awareness of citizens’ legal and social responsibilities in protecting the environment. He further explained that residential addresses are not only meant for identifying locations, but also serve as a crucial tool for settlement planning and environmental management to support sustainable development that considers the well-being of communities and the environment as a whole.

Meanwhile, NEMC Mining Engineer Hezron Mwashibanda stated that services offered at the NEMC exhibition booth include control of noise pollution, monitoring the implementation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), as well as enforcement of environmental laws, fees, and levies in residential and commercial areas.

NEMC has invited members of the public and environmental stakeholders to visit its booth to receive education and important information on environmental conservation and proper environmental management.
