Africa-Press – Tanzania. NEWLY Appointed Mtwara Regional Commissioner, Colonel Ahmed Abbas Ahmed has highlighted his key priorities aimed at stimulating development and promoting the economy in the region.
RC Colonel Ahmed revealed his priorities on Thursday when he assumed his new office after Major General Marco Gaguti handed over the office and working tools to him.
He mentioned his priorities, including ensuring provision of quality services to citizens and increasing revenue collection to finance socio-economic projects.
He further vowed that his priority would also be motivating citizens to participate in the 2022 National Population and Housing Census to enable the government to distribute essential services through credible development planning.
“I express gratitude to our President Samia Suluhu Hassan for giving me this opportunity to serve the citizens of Mtwara, and I am ready to work and implement the ruling party’s manifesto,” he said.
On his part, Major General Marco Gaguti commended the good cooperation from the regional administration, including support from the District Commissioners in ensuring that all duties were accomplished to serve the public.
He pointed out that Mtwara is among the regions with many development opportunities, and if well utilised will further raise individual income and stimulate regional economic growth.
Maj Gen Gaguti further urged government officials to continue serving the citizens well by ensuring that all agendas are implemented, including education and promoting economic development.
Moreover, he commended the good support given by the CCM party in the region when he was performing his duties, especially in implementation of the socio-economic projects.
