Africa-Press – Tanzania. EMPLOYEES from the private sector and civil servants have been assured of adequate housing and accommodation in Dodoma, as the National Housing Corporation (NHC) is nearing completion of the mega housing projects in the area.
NHC has also assured customers of high quality houses since it has improved designs, prices and increased plot size in its 1000 housing projects in Dodoma, which will be available for renting as from June, next month.
Speaking to journalists shortly after inspecting the construction work of phase one with 400 houses at Chamwino Ikulu and Iyumbu on the city outskirts, NHC Director General, Dr Maulidi Banyani said the project will be completed as scheduled.
He said that at Chamwino Ikulu they will construct eight storey buildings which will accommodate 100-households in a bid to address accommodation shortage. At the mega-project known as Iyumbu Satellite Centre, he said NHC are constructing 300 houses over 234 acres of land, adding that the houses will be ready for sale by next month at between 59m/- to 99m/-.
Dr Banyani said NHC has entered into an agreement with Azania Bank to issue loans at a lowest interest of nine per cent to potential customers, saying demand is high in comparison to what they have.
He said the 1000 housing projects in Dodoma was in the corporation’s ten-year strategic plan 2015-25 at 71bn/-. In this first phase of the project, Dr Banyani said the government has given them a soft loans of 20bn/- and NHC injected extra 1.4bn/-.
The Director General further said NHC will extend the project to cover other areas, adding that they have accommodated clients’ recommendations in the project by increasing the plot space from the lowest 300 square meters up to 600-square meters. Moreover, he said, it has accommodated clients’ privacy by working on the architectural designs.
Dr Banyani said the project will be continuous through a revolving fund, in which, the funds acquired will be used to fund next phases. He said the projects offers temporary employment to 450 workers daily, of which 300 are working at the Iyumbu satellite centre.
Equally, he elaborated that the Iyumbu centre will have all facilities like shopping malls, nursery school, play grounds, dispensary and recreational facilities among others.
