Africa-Press – Tanzania. NLD presidential candidate, Doyo Hassan, has promised to build a regional hospital and a modern market in Kagera Region, as part of his strategy to improve social services and boost the economy of the people.

Addressing hundreds of citizens at a public meeting held in Ngara district, Doyo said the hospital will have modern equipment and health professionals to ensure that Kagera citizens receive quality services without having to travel long distances to seek treatment.

“The health sector has been forgotten for a long time, while health is the backbone of the nation. A nation without citizens who are confident in health services is a weak nation that loses its workforce every year. That is why my commitment is to invest fully in the health sector,” said Doyo.

In addition, Doyo promised to build a modern produce market that will enable farmers to sell their produce at a good price, add value, and strengthen the region’s economy, which relies on agriculture.

“I also promise to improve the coffee crop by ensuring that it gets the right price in the market.

Doyo emphasized the plan to open up commercial opportunities by building a Modern Railway (SGR) as well as purchasing a cargo plane to transport agricultural products, especially bananas, coffee, and other crops produced in large quantities in Kagera, to Dar es Salaam and neighboring countries.

“In economic growth, Kagera must get a modern railway (SGR) and a large cargo plane. Farmers’ produce will be transported quickly and reach the market without delay, even in neighboring countries like Burundi, Rwanda, and Uganda,” added Doyo.

For her part, Hadija Dikulumbale, one of the campaign mobilisers, said the party is determined to improve Kagera’s road infrastructure.

She explained that the biggest challenge for the people of Ngara and border areas is poor roads, which hinder the transport of crops to the market.

“Good roads are the foundation of development. If they are made with quality, they will enable farmers to deliver their produce anywhere, within neighboring regions and even outside the country,” said Dikulumbale.

In turn, Zaidat Fundi Majiamoto, Chairman of the Kino Mama Taifa Kigoda through the party, stressed that many women are facing great challenges during childbirth due to the shortage of medicines and equipment in hospitals.

“Kagera mothers have been deprived of peace during childbirth, having to go to the hospital with their own equipment. This is not fair. NLD, we believe Doyo will end this challenge by building a large regional hospital and ensuring access to medicines,” said Majiamoto.

Majiamoto added that Kagera Region has been facing many challenges, including poor health services, substandard roads, poor markets for agricultural products such as coffee, as well as trade challenges due to the border environment.

Majimoto stressed that the NLD candidate’s promises have brought new hope to the people of Ngara and the entire Kagera region as they are based on a carefully researched manifesto and a vision for change.

The NLD presidential candidate’s campaign caravan is heading to Kigoma, Tabora, and Singida regions to continue campaign meetings.
