Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Sumbawanga Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (SUWASA) has announced that there will be no water rationing in Sumbawanga Town.

SUWASA Managing Director, Eng Gibon Nzowa told the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ yesterday that though the water production level has dropped due to shortage of rainfall and frequently power outage, they have set strategies to ensure that the supply will remain stable.

Regardless, Eng Nzowa appealed to the people to use and store the precious liquid sensibly.

“While we wait for rains, we advise people to use and store water sensibly,” he emphasized.

Highlighting, Eng Nzowa explained that though there is no water rationing but there are some areas at the municipal vicinities facing water shortages due to frequent power cutting.

He mentioned the areas which are badly hit as Majumbasita, Bible, Sokolo and part of Kantalamba

The Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) has issued outlook for rainfall advising authorities to take adequate precautions as the country would get below normal to normal rain.

And subsequently, Eng Nzowa stated that the water production has dropped from nine million litres of water per day to six million liters of water per day.

He further explained that SUWASA will continue to make sure that key areas such as health facilities have access to water supply for 24 hours.
