Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE 10 days of action-packed CRDB Taifa Cup reach climax today at Chinangali Park courts in Dodoma where the Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa will grace the event’s epic finals.
The tournament that commenced on November 5th involving 32 teams, climaxes today in the two matches which will decide the two teams that deserve men and women’s diadem.
The finals gala will be brightened by various activities including entertainments from Bongo Fleva artist G Nako and Dodoma Dancers who will perform prior to the matches. The first semifinal match for women’s discipline saw the defending champions; Dar es Salaam Ladies beating Arusha Queens 57-30 in a one sided game. Dar Ladies led the first quarter with 15-0 points and went on to stamp 35-14 points in the second quarter. The two sides went into the breather with Dar Ladies leading 50-14. Dar Ladies maintained their form to stamp a 67-30 victory in the final whistle. Before losing yesterday, Arusha defeated Coast Region 52-34. The men’s title is currently vacant as the defending champions Mbeya lost 76-70 to Tanga in their quarterfinal match at the same venue. Winner of the tournament for both men and women’s categories will bag 5m/-cash prize while the runners up will collect 3m/- as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) is entitled to receive 500, 000/-. The teams that made it into the semifinals, Dar Queens, Arusha Queens, Unguja and Tanga for women’s discipline and Coast Region, Arusha, Dodoma and Dar es Salaam for men’s category will each earn 500,000/-. Also the four teams to make it into the today’s finals will pocket 1m/- cash prize.
