Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Kassim Majaliwa, has urged government vehicle drivers to refrain from the unauthorized use of sirens and flashing lights without proper permission or specific instructions.
He emphasized that this measure aims to reduce unnecessary conflicts on the roads.
Speaking at the Fourth Government Drivers’ Conference held at the Jakaya Kikwete Hall in Dodoma, Majaliwa said some drivers have been using sirens and flashing lights contrary to regulations, which contributes to chaos and inconvenience for other road users.
“Some put on sirens without permission to use them, and others even use flashing lights, although these are designated for specific personnel. The goal is to eliminate conflicts on the roads where everyone appears to claim equal rights,” said Prime Minister Majaliwa.
In his speech, the Prime Minister also reminded government drivers of the importance of adhering to laws and regulations while on duty. He urged them to avoid using illegal vehicle registration numbers and to increase their attentiveness on the roads to help reduce accidents and protect public safety.
The conference brought together drivers from various government institutions to discuss ways to improve their performance, enhance road safety, and ensure the efficient delivery of public services.
