Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRIME Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba has presented his office’s 2026/27 priority areas to National Assembly urging lawmakers to approve a 12.5tri/- spending plan to facilitate activities aligned with the National Development Vision 2050.

Dr Nchemba also called on Members of Parliament to endorse 225.02bn/- for the Parliamentary Fund, stressing the government’s commitment to effectively implement the Vision 2050 framework.

Explaining the breakdown of the proposed 12.5tri/- budget, the Premier said 8.73tri/- has been earmarked for recurrent expenditures, while 3.77tri/- will be directed to development initiatives.

On the Parliamentary Fund request of 225.02bn/-, 207.99bn/- is slated for recurrent activities, with about 17.03bn/- set aside for development projects.

Dr Nchemba stressed that the budget proposals are geared towards actualising the objectives of Vision 2050.

He called on all stakeholders including government leaders, religious bodies, the private sector, civil society organisations, and development partners to align their plans with the priorities of Vision 2050 and support its implementation.

He also directed the National Planning Commission (NPC) to continue providing public education on Vision 2050 to enable effective participation in its implementation.

The Prime Minister emphasised that each sector must ensure national resources are directed towards high-productivity and high-impact areas to reduce dependence on foreign support.

“Furthermore, stakeholders should continue engaging the private sector and development partners to accelerate the implementation of Vision 2050, with the aim of building an inclusive, competitive and production-based economy,” he stressed.

Additionally, PM Nchemba directed the Planning Commission to continue providing public education on Vision 2050 to enable citizens to actively participate in its implementation, noting that this will only be possible if all stakeholders have a clear understanding of the priorities outlined in the Vision.

He said that Vision 2050 launched by President Samia Suluhu Hassan on July 17, 2025 will guide the country’s development plans over the next 25 years, with the goal of building an inclusive, prosperous, just, and self-reliant nation.

“I call upon leaders from the government, religious institutions, the private sector, civil society organisations, and development partners to ensure that their plans align with the priorities of Vision 2050 and to support its implementation,” he said.

Furthermore, Dr Nchemba directed leaders across all sectors to ensure that national resources are channeled into high-impact and productive areas in order to reduce dependence on external support.

The Premier further said that the government will strengthen revenue collection systems and set clear, measurable targets for empowerment programmes, including performance indicators and implementation timelines to ensure resources generate employment, income and sustainable businesses.

“All contractors implementing government projects must honour their contractual obligations, including timely payments to service providers involved in project execution,” he added.

He said his office will place greater emphasis on the quality of development projects, directing sectoral ministries, institutions and local government authorities to ensure timely compensation for citizens whose land is acquired for public projects.
