Africa-Press – Tanzania. President Samia Hassan Suluhu has announced a seven-day period of national mourning following the death of Zambia’s first President Kenneth Kaunda.
Kaunda alias KK passed away on Thursday (17 June, 2021) at a miltary hospital in Lusaka.
A statement released by the State House in Dodoma Friday stated that the President has also ordered all flags in the country to fly at half-mast.
President Samia has described the late Kenneth Kaunda as a liberation fighter and a true Pan –Africanist.
Kenneth Kaunda took his last breath at the Maina Soko Medical Centre, a military hospital in Lusaka where he was admitted.
He was undergoing treatments for pneumonia.
