Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE government is currently reviewing all roads construction contracts under Engineering, Procurement, Construction Plus Financing (EPC+F) model, which it signed with different construction companies.
The new move seeks to establish a new process for the construction of the roads basing on quality and standards, according to deputy minister for Transport, Engineer Godfrey Kasekenya.
Eng Kasekenya was responding to a main question posed by Mbozi Member of Parliament, Gerorge Mwenisongole (CCM) who had wanted to know when the government would accomplish its procedures to obtain the contractor for Mlowo-Kamsamba road at tarmac level.
Responding, Eng Kasekenya said that the construction of 130-kilometre Mlowo-Kamsamba road was being implemented in phases depending on the available funds.
“Already, the government has completed the construction of the Momba bridge with 84 metres long and on October 21, 2024 it signed yet another contract for the construction of a 60-meter Mpapa/Mkonko bridge,’’ he said.
The deputy minister further informed that procurement procedures to have a tarmacked 5-kilometre road from Mlowo to Kamsamba and five other roads were currently ongoing.
However, Engineer Kasekenya added, the government was now reviewing all contracts under EPC + F so as to come up with new measures to see the contracts completed timely.
