Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan, who also serves as Chairperson of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), has called on party vetting committees to uphold fairness and integrity as they screen candidates for the upcoming general elections.
Speaking in Dodoma on Thursday during the launch of CCM’s 2025–2030 election manifesto, President Samia emphasized the importance of selecting candidates who will effectively implement the party’s development agenda.
“The vetting committees must act justly. Those who are qualified should be endorsed, and those who are not must be told so clearly and honestly. There should be no favoritism or hesitation,” she said.
She also added: “We need candidates who will deliver on our manifesto and serve the people diligently.”
The new manifesto, which outlines CCM’s vision and priorities for the next five years, will guide the party’s campaign in the 2025 general election.
President Samia also called on party members to remain united after the internal nomination process, warning against factionalism that could weaken the party ahead of the national polls.
“We are heading into a challenging election time when unity and solidarity within the party are critical. Once internal competitions are over, we must stand together as one party and enter the elections united,” she stressed.
To ensure transparency and regional accountability, the President directed the party’s Secretary General, Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, and the Chairperson of the Manifesto Committee, Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, to prepare regional mini-booklets, noting that these documents will outline past manifesto achievements and upcoming plans for each region.
“Each region should have a tailored version of the manifesto that reflects what was planned, what has been achieved, and what remains to be done,” she said. “This will make implementation easier and more measurable.”
President Samia further noted that the successful execution of the manifesto will require national stability, hard work, and cooperation with the private sector, both local and international.
She also urged CCM members to actively promote the party’s agenda to the public.
“Carry this manifesto with you, speak about it, and convince Tanzanians to continue believing in CCM,” she said.
