Africa-Press – Tanzania. AFTER a 1-0 late win over Namungo on Wednesday, Simba have vowed to use the international FIFA break to sharpen the team’s striking section before resumption of the league.
The NBC Premier League has been temporarily paused to pave way for the country’s envoys, Taifa Stars to host Democratic Republic of Congo in the crucial 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match on November 11th at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Three days later, the envoys will head to Madagascar for their final group J qualifying match as such; the sixth round of the Premier League is pegged to resume from November 16th. At a post-match briefing, Simba’s interim coach Thierry Hitimana said they intend to use well the break to improve coordination among the players who will not join their respective national teams.
“The league is very difficult and Simba are also passing through a tough period after enjoying success for a long period. This is just a transition period and we need to find good ways to manage it. “In terms of playing football, we are doing that but our main problem is turning the opportunities into goals. This is one thing we must sort out now,” Hitimana said.
He added that after the Jwaneng Galaxy match, they have hardly enough time to train together as such; coordination among some of players is still a challenge.
Moreover, the former Namungo trainer disclosed that their primary role on the day was to get three important points even though it came late into the game while insisting that they will do a lot during the break period. Again, Hitimana pointed out that a number of his players are on injury list that is why they are rotating much the squad as such, when they begin to recover, things will return back to normal.
His Namungo compatriot, Hemed Morocco said lack of concentration in the closing stages of the match was the reason which made them lose the game.
“We knew that Simba will have pressure in the first 25 to 30 minutes of the game that is why we deployed many midfielders to contain that pressure of which we succeeded. “I believe if we played with all eleven players on the pitch, we could have managed to get good results but that red card changed our game plan even though we worked hard to contain them,” he said. Furthermore, he pledged to bring a new Namungo team after playing at least seven league matches saying most of the players they have are new and have not yet gained the required chemistry.
