Speaker warns MPs against using bodaboda

Africa-PressTanzania. National Assembly Speaker Job Ndugai has cautioned Members of Parliament over their safety when using motorcycles famously known as ‘bodaboda’ as a means of transport to and from the Parliamentary premises.

The Speaker raised an alarm after noticing that some lawmakers were resorting to using bodaboda when moving to and from Parliamentary premises He made the caution on Friday when the issue of road construction in different constituencies took a centre stage during the question-answer session.

Several MPs were concerned over delays in the implementation of road projects in their areas, something which leads to poor transportation.

“Because the discussion is all about roads, let me also say something relating to the roads, and this is about some MPs who use bodaboda to come and leave the Parliament. “This is good transport, I don’t have any doubt about it…but my request to you is that you need to be careful, the procedure of getting a new MP is very costly. You should also understand how your voters would perceive you when seeing you on bodaboda,” he appealed.
