Africa-Press – Tanzania. ALL is set for grand celebrations of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM)’s 48th anniversary since its establishment with national festivities scheduled to take place at Dodoma’s Jamhuri Stadium on February 5, 2025.

The party was formed in 1977, following the merger of the Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) and the Afro-Shirazi Party (ASP), with a total of 500,000 active members.

Addressing journalists at the party’s headquarters in Dodoma on Monday, the party’s Secretary for Ideology, Publicity, and Training, CPA Amos Makalla, stated that the chief guest is expected to be the National Chairperson, President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Among other things, the celebrations will officially be used to introduce President Samia Suluhu Hassan the incumbent President and National Chairperson of the party, Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi as the running mate of Dr Samia, alongside Dr Hussein Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar and as CCM’s flag bearers for the upcoming elections.

The resolution to endorse President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Dr Hussein Mwinyi was endorsed unanimously by over 1,900 members during an n extraordinary Meeting held in Dodoma recently.

“These are CCM celebrations for party members and supporters. Therefore, we will introduce our flag bearers to CCM members. We know that when the right time comes, we will introduce them to the public,” he said.

Mr Makalla said that CCM is marking its 48th anniversary as a strong party registering a total of 12 million members since 1977.

“This is a party that has formed the government and has largely implemented its manifesto. Various projects under both governments have been significantly executed. The party is celebrating 48 years with great achievements, including a landslide victory in the local government elections, securing 98 per cent of the votes,” he added.

He said that there is much to be proud of within the party, but the most significant achievement is maintaining peace and stability.

“Despite the existence of multiple political parties, our country continues to be guided by the President’s 4Rs philosophy in politics. While we may differ ideologically, the nation remains safe,” he emphasized.

CPA Makalla explained that the preparations for the celebrations are progressing well, urging the public, supporters, and CCM members to turn out in large numbers.

“These are CCM celebrations, not a special meeting that requires an invitation card. The gates will be open from 6:00 AM on February 05.”

Equally, he congratulated regional, district, and ward leaders for the successful commemorations they organized in their respective areas.

“We have witnessed each region holding these celebrations, with events reaching down to the ward level as directed by the National Executive Council.” he said.
