The Tanzania League Board (TPLB) also expressed how it was deeply saddened by the news of the deaths.

Mwamnyeto, who plays for Yanga, is part of the squad called recently by the Head Coach Ettiene Ndayiragije for the international friendly with DR Congo and CHAN finals in Cameroon.

The chairman of Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) Steve Mnguto sent his condolences to the player saying TPLB joined the family in this difficult period of mourning.

“It is a great blow to our player Mwamnyeto so, as a football family, it is our responsibility to comfort him and all the others involved, as we pray to God to keep them in a good place in heaven.”

Tanzania is packed in group D of the competition together with Namibia, Guinea and Zambia, whereby the best two top teams in each group will advance into the quarterfinals.
