Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism continues to collaborate with stakeholders in the forestry and beekeeping sectors to improve the conservation and development of forest and bee resources and set strategies to develop value-added industries for forest and honey products.

Other strategies include addressing various challenges to ensure that the benefits of these sectors benefit the community and the nation as a whole.

This was stated in Dodoma by the Acting Director of the Ministry’s Forestry and Beekeeping Department, Daniel Pancras, during the opening of a workshop that brought together experts and stakeholders in the forestry and beekeeping sectors.

The workshop aimed to build a common understanding on strategies to develop these sectors and increase efficiency in the management of forest and bee resources.

“The forestry and beekeeping sector has made a significant contribution to the increase in employment for youth and women, and has also contributed significantly to the growth of the national economy.

He added “However, this sector faces several challenges, and through this workshop, we are planning joint strategies to address those challenges,” he said.

Mr Pancras stressed that the strategies proposed in this workshop should yield positive and rapid results in the implementation of the Ministry’s policies and objectives, while taking into account the National Development Vision 2050.

“This includes developing value-added industries for forest products and honey, and ensuring that the forestry sector achieves sustainable development.

In another step, he called on stakeholders in the conservation and tourism sector to actively participate in competing for the Conservation and Tourism Awards, popularly known as The Serengeti Awards.

“These awards are given to recognize the contributions of stakeholders in developing the natural resources and tourism sector in the country.

He stressed the importance of stakeholders being good ambassadors by sensitizing others about the existence of these awards.
