Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, today, July 9, 2025, officially launched the TAI HABARI System, which is used by the Journalists Accreditation Board to register journalists in Tanzania.

The system is designed to strengthen oversight and regulation of the journalism profession by ensuring that every journalist is formally registered and legally recognized.

The system was launched during a special stakeholders’ meeting convened to discuss the role of the media sector in supporting the successful conduct of the 2025 General Election. The meeting was held at the Mlimani City Conference Hall in Dar es Salaam and was attended by various stakeholders, including journalists, government officials, media houses, and representatives from civil society organizations.

In his keynote address, Dr. Biteko emphasized the importance of having a robust journalist registration system to promote accountability, professionalism, and ethical conduct within the media sector, especially in the lead-up to the general elections. He urged all journalists to ensure they register through the new system and become part of the positive transformation of the media industry in the country.
