Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Minister of State in the President’s Office – Youth Development, Joel Nanauka, has officially launched a Motorcycle (Bodaboda) and Tricycle (Bajaji) Driving Training Program at VETA College in Mwanza, alongside the handover of motorcycles and bajajis to participating youth.

The program, organized by VETA in partnership with William Kafiti, MP for Ilemela, is designed to equip young people with professional driving skills, road safety knowledge, customer service training, and basic entrepreneurial skills.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Nanauka said the initiative aligns with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision to empower youth with skills that enable them to create jobs, secure employment, and contribute to national economic growth.

The first phase of the program has enrolled 461 youth, with a target of reaching 5,000 beneficiaries across multiple phases.

Graduates of the first phase received official certificates, while registration continues for upcoming sessions.

Minister Nanauka praised the collaboration between VETA and the Ilemela MP, noting that the model can be replicated across other constituencies and regions, as VETA has colleges nationwide.

He said such initiatives will expand employment opportunities and increase productivity in the transport sector.

He further highlighted that the Sixth Phase Government is prioritising the modernization of Tanzania’s transport sector, including investments in the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), ports, and airports, creating a growing demand for skilled workers.

The Minister urged youth to form groups to access loans from financial institutions and local authorities.

He also encouraged them to be ambassadors of their newly acquired skills and to strictly observe road safety rules.
