Africa-Press – Tanzania. The Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Yacoub Hassan Mohamed, has met and held discussions with the Speaker of the Tanzanian Parliament, Mussa Azzan Zungu, at the Embassy of Tanzania in Abu Dhabi.
Their discussions focused on reviewing the current state of relations between Tanzania and the UAE, especially in areas related to cooperation between the parliaments of the two nations.
During the meeting, the two leaders explored ways to strengthen and expand parliamentary cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.
They also discussed strategies to enhance diplomatic relations between Tanzania and the UAE through high-level engagements and collaboration between government institutions.
Following their talks at the embassy, Ambassador Mohamed and Speaker Zungu proceeded to the UAE Federal National Council (FNC) in Abu Dhabi, where they held a meeting with the Speaker of the UAE Parliament, H.E. Saqr Ghobash. The meeting was also attended by several FNC leaders and officials from the Tanzanian Embassy.
Discussions between the two parliaments centered on strengthening parliamentary collaboration, including experience-sharing, organizing official visits, and establishing training programs aimed at capacity-building for members of parliament and parliamentary staff.
One of the major outcomes of the discussions was the idea to establish a permanent joint committee between the Parliament of Tanzania and the UAE Parliament. The committee is expected to coordinate various joint activities, such as parliamentary visits, exchange of expertise, and long-term strategies for enhancing parliamentary cooperation.
The leaders concluded their engagements by exchanging gifts and taking a group photograph, symbolizing the growing friendship and diplomatic ties between Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates.
