Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Workers’ Council in the Ministry of State in the President’s Office for Planning and Investment has decorated Professor Kitila Mkumbo in recognition of his outstanding leadership and significant contribution to advancing the national development agenda.
Speaking before the award presentation, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Tausi Kida, said Prof. Mkumbo has demonstrated exemplary leadership by providing solid guidance that enabled the Ministry to overcome various challenges and successfully fulfill its responsibilities.
Dr. Kida highlighted that under Prof. Mkumbo’s leadership, the preparation of the National Development Vision 2050 was perfectly done. She also noted his effective oversight of investment activities in both the private and public sectors. During his tenure, investment projects have significantly increased, leading to a rise in capital inflows and job creation across the country.
Additionally, Dr. Kida emphasized that Prof. Mkumbo led the implementation of the Business and Investment Environment Improvement Program (MKUMBI), which has brought about major reforms. These include the reduction of non-productive fees, integration of institutions with overlapping roles, and the establishment of digital service delivery systems for investors and traders.
With visible joy after receiving the award, Prof. Mkumbo expressed his gratitude and stressed that the achievements are the result of strong cooperation between the Ministry’s leadership and its staff. He encouraged continued teamwork and dedication in executing their duties efficiently.
The award was presented on May 28, 2025, during the Third Meeting of the Workers’ Council of the President’s Office – Planning and Investment. The occasion serves as a testament to Prof. Mkumbo’s excellent leadership and his impactful role in advancing national development through strategic planning and investment.
