Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA Prisons striker Jeremiah Juma entered in the history books for becoming the first player to register a hat-trick in the ongoing NBC Premier League.
Remorseless Juma was on siege when his hat-trick helped his team stamp a convincing 3-1 victory over Namungo at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Sumbawanga over the weekend.
This was the second back to back win for Tanzania Prisons who at the same venue in their past match ended Mbeya Kwanza unbeaten run following their 2-1 victory.
Prior to that, the Rukwa-based side had gone five matches without a win hence; they are now one of the difficult sides to face bearing in mind that their winning momentum has been heavily boosted.
The only consolation goal for Namungo was netted by Bigirimana Blaise in the 68th minute which was not enough to save the sinking ship as water levels were already beyond the manageable point.
Elsewhere, Mbeya City coach Mathias Lulle said he was disappointed with the 2-2 draw his side stamped against KMC at Sokoine Stadium on Saturday.
KMC came from behind twice to salvage a point from a seemingly tough venue with Matheo Antony and Mohamed Samatta scoring in the 17th and 86th minute respectively to escape defeat.
For Mbeya City, on the scoreboard were Paul Nonga and Richardson Ng’ondya who enabled their side to make their fifth draw of the campaign as they are among the three teams Young Africans and Simba yet to swallow the bitter pill of the season.
“We conceded two goals in a match we deserved to win as such; we are going back to the drawing board to see what went wrong in order to come refreshed in our next game,” Lulle said.
For KMC coach, Habib Kondo has hailed his charges for fighting hard to earn one point saying it was a difficult match but he was pleased with the outcome.
“We have enough time to correct some mistakes which surfaced before playing our next game,” Kondo said while insisting that they are still better placed to do well in the league as the marathon is far from over.
