Africa-Press – Tanzania. UNITED and Democracy Party (UDP) presidential candidate, Saumu Rashid has said her government will establish an industry in every region based on local resources if they secure the presidential mandate in the upcoming General Election.

Speaking on Saturday at a UDP campaign rally in Chang’ombe Ward, Ms Saumu outlined her party’s focus on industrialisation, agriculture, health, education, water, land reforms and anti-corruption measures to ensure economic benefits reach all citizens.

“In the industrial sector, we will build industries in every region tailored to local resources. Our goal is to fill Tanzanians’ pockets and open economic opportunities for everyone,” she said.

Ms Saumu unveiled plans to develop Dodoma Region as a grape farming hub by establishing wineries, allowing farmers to profit from their harvests. She noted that many farmers currently lose large portions of their crops due to the lack of processing industries.

“We are committed to recruiting experts to improve agricultural infrastructure and conduct soil testing to increase income,” she added. On healthcare, Ms Saumu pledged universal access, promising to improve 10,000 dispensaries nationwide with sufficient nurses and medicine supplies.

She warned that any health professional involved in corruption would be immediately removed. Addressing water challenges, she said the UDP government would build deep wells and dams to ensure a reliable supply.

“With sufficient water, we will also promote irrigation agriculture to achieve food security,” she said. In education, Ms Saumu promised qualified teachers who will be capable of imparting practical skills, enabling students to become self-reliant.

Regarding land, she assured citizens that they would retain full rights over their land, even if minerals are discovered, unlike current laws that allow government takeover.

Ms Saumu condemned corruption and vowed to establish a government free from bribery and misconduct. “We believe a corruption-free UDP government is possible,” she said. She urged all Tanzanians to turn out in large numbers and vote on October 29 and choose their leaders peacefully
