Africa-Press – Tanzania. OVER 400 accountants pursuing CPA will benefit from free health screening services during a health camp organized by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) in collaboration with Unique Group as the firm celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Speaking during the event held in Dar es Salaam today, March 27, 2026, the Chairperson of the NBAA Board, Sylivia Temu, said the initiative demonstrates strong cooperation between the two institutions and highlights the importance of prioritizing health among young professionals preparing to join the accounting field.

“This event confirms our strong partnership with Unique Group, a company that provides audit and accounting services. As they celebrate 30 years since their establishment, they have chosen to mark this milestone by organizing a medical camp at their own cost in collaboration with the Aga Khan Hospital,” she said.

Temu noted that the health camp aims to provide preventive healthcare services to students pursuing professional accounting qualifications, emphasizing that good health is essential for effective job performance and long-term productivity.

She said the screenings cover a wide range of conditions including eye problems, diabetes, cervical cancer, and sexually transmitted infections, among others. She added that the organizers have pledged to support treatment for up to 50 young people across Tanzania who may be diagnosed with health complications during the exercise.

“The major objective is to remind young people that their health is important in carrying out their professional duties. We are also communicating with them through digital platforms, which explains the strong turnout we are witnessing today,”

she added, while calling on more youth to embrace and promote the accounting profession, describing it as a field that serves the public interest.

Executive Director of Unique Group, Dr. B.S. Sree Kumar, said the health camp forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility as it celebrates three decades of service to society.

“As we celebrate 30 years, this is our token of appreciation to the community. We are giving back in collaboration with the NBAA, with a team of doctors and health professionals from the Aga Khan Hospital providing screenings for blood sugar levels, eye health, heart conditions, breast cancer and other health concerns,” he said.

Dr. Kumar emphasized that the company is committed to supporting any student diagnosed with health problems during the screening, noting that giving back to society is a responsibility for institutions that have benefited from community support.

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) student, Catherine Madembwe, described the initiative as timely and beneficial, noting that many young people rarely take the initiative to check their health status.

“This event is very important because it gives us an opportunity to undergo health screening that we might not otherwise access. I advise more companies to organize similar programmes because many people do not have a routine of checking their health, which explains the high response we are seeing,” she said.
