Africa-PressTanzania. On Thursday this week President Samia Suluhu Hassan delivered what can be described as her maiden speech in Parliament after she assumed presidency following the death of former President John Magufuli.

It was a speech through which the President set the direction that her government wants to move on.

If one reads the speech between the lines they will probably notice that President Samia plans to stick to the strategic projects that the fifth phase government started implementing right from the day it kicked off its business in 2015.

Equally, she spoke on some reforms she may undertake to improve some affairs in the best interest of the nation, including reaching out to the leaders of opposition political parties.

With a strong tone, President Samia warned civil servants, especially heads of public entities (parastatal organisations) against misappropriation, embezzlement and theft of public properties, including funds.

According to President Samia, theft of public monies has started taking toll in some public parastatals, warning that heads will roll on those who will be found guilty.

From all corners of the country President Samia’s speech received accolades with the public, including former leaders admitting that the new Head of State has started on the right foot.

Understandably, President Samia fully participated in ‘selling’ the 2020-2025 CCM election manifesto which contained all the plans that the ruling party envisaged to implement in case it was elected to power. The world knows that CCM indeed won the 2020 general election with a landslide victory.

The full participation of President Samia in publicising CCM election manifesto and later the party victory is no doubt a clear evidence to Tanzanians and the international community that we have a Head of State who is indeed conversant with the country’s planned destiny and we, the Tanzanian people, will support her to ensure she accomplishes her mission.

Building the nation requires devotion of all citizens with common interests. We, as Tanzanians, under the stewardship of President Samia are driven by the quest to move our country to the next level of economic development, already having attained the middle income economy status.

We are proud of the good work started by our former leaders including the late President Magufuli and our responsibility is to build on what has been achieved.

President Samia has spoken and we, as Tanzanians, have the duty to get down to business to build our nation.
