AfricaPress-Tanzania: THE South African government has banned the use of alcohol in public during the Easter holidays and has urged citizens to adhere to the rules to prevent the spread of the corona virus.

Giving the order yesterday, the Minister of Administration and Cultural Affairs, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said the Police would be deployed to various areas on the road to ensure people obey the law without compulsion and adhere to the rules to protect themselves from the corona.

He said it was illegal for people to drink alcohol in public and move around with it or move from one place to another as a way to deal with the corona virus.

Dlamini-Zuma has said the decision to ban alcohol over the weekend is to prevent the spread of the virus which has caused many patients to be hospitalized.
