AfricaPress-Tanzania: THE Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Biswalo Mganga, has directed state attorneys in the country to adhere to ethics and refrain from corrupt practices in order to avoid complaints from the people they serve.
Mr Mganga issued such directive in Mwanza City recently while opening a training course for trial attorneys from all regions across the country on capacity building in the handling of corruption, embezzlement and cyber crimes cases.
He urged the 39 state lawyers from the National Prosecution Office, Regions and Districts across the country to adhere to ethics in order to avoid complaints from the public about their performance.
Mr Biswalo said the current World goes with the pace of changes in Science and Technology, so the aim of bringing the lawyers together was to build their capacity, share experiences and at the same time learn new ways on how to move with the time of the changes.
The DPP went on to explain that their Institution would ensure that they strive to expedite the resolution of challenges on the crimes as soon as possible so that the community could get justice timely and enable them to carry out their developmental work.
Mr Mganga was quoted in a statement published by the National Prosecution Office as saying that his Office and the prosecutors have many challenges to deal with, thus the presence of regular trainings was important for them.
On his part, Assistant Commissioner of Police Suleiman Nyakulinga, said that due to an increase of cybercrimes, regular training for the trial attorneys would help them understand how best to deal with emerging challenges.
Assistant Commissioner Nyakulinga pointed out that money laundering and cybercrime offences had increased, so having more experienced Prosecutors was important at this time.
State Attorney Tusaje Samwel from Arusha, who attended the training, said that given the challenges arising as result of such crimes it was important for them to exchange experiences and receive capacity building trainings to enable them to deal with various criminal offenses.
