AfricaPress-Tanzania: CCM candidate in Rorya Constituency, Jafari Chege has promised to end a water shortage in his constituency if he wins on October 28, this year.

“So far, the big problem that I see almost every place I have visited during my campaigns is a water problem. So, my first assignment will be solving this problem,” Mr Chege said in an interview with ‘africa-press’ early this week.

Mr Chege said he understood that the government planned to implement a big water project that would draw water from Lake Victoria and supply it to some villages of Rorya Constituency.

“One of the things that I will push if I win the election is the expansion of Lake Victoria Water Project, so that it covers many villages,” Mr Chege said.

He added: “Water is everything. Water is life and with improved water service even the health of our people will improve.”

He cited bilharzia as one of the chronic diseases affecting Rorya residents due to the water shortage. Mr Chege said already he had campaigned ahead of the forthcoming general election in 17 wards.

“My focus during my campaigns is to explain how I will solve social problems facing the residents of Rorya, and not dealing with people (individuals),” Mr Chege said.

Mr Chege is competing with Mr Ezekiah Wenje of Chadema, among other candidates.
