AfricaPress-Tanzania: POLICE in Rukwa region have arrested a farmer, Gido NkwabiI for allegedly possessing two pieces of ivory weighing 4.8kilogrames illegally.
The Rukwa Regional Police Commander (RPC), Justine Masejo told reporters yesterday that the accused was arrested on May 04, this year at Mashete village in Nkasi District.
He said the value of the trophies is yet to be quantified. According to the RPC, the suspect was caught red handed while scouting for prospective buyers.
“The suspect had packed the two pieces of elephant tusks into a bag while scouting for buyers” said the RPC. He said police will arraign the suspect in court after completion of investigations.
