AfricaPress-Tanzania: THERE is an urgency call for improvement of the Mainland Premier League in terms of investment, promotion and commitment so as to make it highly competitive and produce quality players of the global level calibre.
This was also seen by Tanzanian professionals Mbwana Samatta and Simon Msuva who are playing their football career outside the country and we wholly support their recommendation that the only easy way to shine at the international level is to improve on the domestic league.
It is evident that in our league, only a few teams have capacity to build competitive squads which can bring positive impact in CAF Champions League (CAF CL) and CAF Confederation Cup and our professional see it crystal clear after serving highly investment teams in Congo DR and Morocco.
From their vast experience in the continental level tournaments our teams which manage to qualify to play in major competitions on the continent tend to do better in the preliminary stages because they meet teams which are of the same level like them and as the contest level soars, the going gets tough due to high class teams they start to face.
From what we have witnessed in the last season’s CAF level tournaments, the dismal performance of Tanzanian teams comes when our clubs play against teams which put aside big budget in their respective teams, something our teams lacks.
What we see very important for the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and its partners to do at the moment is to focus much towards improving the entire league and make it as very competitive as necessary by increasing investing, promoting it while helping clubs to groom well their players who can challenge the influx of the foreign players.
We would like to remind football governing bodies, teams and players featuring in the country’s big leagues to be serious in preparing their players so that they become competitors and not just watchers of the of foreign leagues.
They must be ready to challenge foreign players’ threat by demonstrating well their skills at both individual and teamwork basis.
We would again insist the players and teams engaged in the top flight league to work hard for themselves as individuals and their teams we have witnessed that football pays handsomely as an entertaining source of income.
