Samatta urges Tanzanians to value unity

AfricaPress-Tanzania: TANZANIA’s national football team ‘Taifa Stars’ skipper, Mbwana Samatta, has called on the country’s people to unite in this period of grief over the loss of President John Pombe Magufuli.

Samatta, who plays for Turkish club Fenerbahçe, made the request yesterday via his social media account.

He issued the advice a few hours after Tanzania’s Vice-President, Mama Samia Suluhu Hassan, announced the death of President Magufuli, who died on Wednesday at Mzena Hospital in Dar es Salaam, while undergoing heart treatment.

Samatta wrote in his condolence: “We will always remember you, our old man. You have finished the process. We pray to God to rest in peace.”

He stated: “Rest in peace President. You have left us in mourning and grief. Sorry to family members of our beloved, sorry to fellow Tanzanians.”

”Let’s stay connected in this time of grief,” the attacker, a former England’s Aston Villa player, noted.

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, John Pombe Magufuli, passed away on Wednesday night.

Samia announced the President’s death through the national Television.

She added that Magufuli had a heart problem for a long time.

Samia announced the country will observe a 14-day mourning and the national flag will be half-mast.

Magufuli will be remembered for his great contribution to Tanzania and his efforts to improve each sector, including sports
