AfricaPress-Tanzania: DAR ES SALAAM Regional Commissioner (RC) Abubakar Kunenge has commended National Social Security Fund (NSSF)’s plan for installing street lights along a stretch of road connecting Nyerere Bridge and Kigamboni District.
The road stretch is key to an area known as ‘Mnadani’ where a weekly market is held.
When he toured the area, Mr Kunenge said the street installing lights was to live the dream of President John Magufuli of beatifying the country.
The implementation of the project is a result of President Magufuli’s directive he gave during the launch of the new district of Kigamboni.
In his briefing, Mr Erio told the RC that the construction of the road was complete, and that NSSF had discussed with experts from Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) to install solar street lights along the road to beautify the area.
The RC argued that beatifying Nyerere Bridge would in return make it attractive to tourists who might come for leisure to the place.
“Let me congratulate NSSF on its initiative…this is good. We must transform Tanzania,” he said.
For his part, Mr Simon Mgani, project supervisor from the Tanzania National Roads Agency (Tanroads), told Mr Kunenge that the construction of the road stretch was finalised on August 31, this year.
For his part, Dar es Salaam Regional Police Commander (RPC), Lazaro Mambosasa said the construction of Nyerere Bridge and the road was a big investment, urging residents to protect and maintain it so that every Tanzanian could benefit from the government efforts.
