AfricaPress-Tanzania: THE Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner has stressed that the city revenue collection should go hand in hand with improving the business environment to attract entrepreneurs.
Thus, the RC, Abubakar Kunenge, thanked CRDB Bank campaign for beautifying the city environment by planting trees and helping in keeping the surroundings clean.
“I commend the bank campaign for its strategy in supporting the government in keeping and protecting the environment,” Mr Kunenge said during the a one-day meeting with Dar es Salaam local government officials.
The meeting centred on building capacity of the officials on how to promote accountability and implementation of government directives in revenue collection management, keeping the city clean, improving road infrastructures, electricity, clean water, and sewage.
During the meeting, officials from five districts of Ubungo, Kinondoni, Kigamboni, Ilala, and Temeke discussed ways on how to address challenges facing the city residents.
“Let me take this opportunity to commend CRDB for closeness with Dar es Salaam regional government and for sponsoring this meeting,” the RC said.
He said one of the meeting agenda, which was sponsored by CRDB, was how to keep the city clean and improve its surroundings.
However, the RC emphasised on the city ability to maximise revenue collection that it should go hand in hand with improving the environment.
In line with the agenda of improving the city surroundings, the officials had the opportunity to get financial skills from CRDB.
Late last year, CRDB planned to plant 100,000 trees in three months to December through a new campaign to beautify Tanzania environmentally.
Through the campaign, the government appointed the lender as new environment ambassador.
Initially, the drive of planting 100,000 trees started in Goba, Kinondoni District, Dar es Salaam, and will be replicated in Dodoma.
