DC FEELS GLOW OF PRIDE AS MAJOR PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED

AfricaPress-Tanzania: THE government in Bagamoyo District, Coast Region, has succeeded in implementing and facilitating a number of major projects in the past five years in education, water, health, electricity, industries and other sectors of the economy through the guidance of the CCM Manifesto of 2015-2020.

Speaking at CCM’s district secretariat meeting to receive a report on the implementation of the ruling party’s manifesto for 2015-2020 in Lugoba Ward in Chalinze Council recently, Kibaha District Commissioner (DC), Zainab Kawawa said government authorities in the district, which had two constituencies of Bagamoyo and Chalinze, had been able to implement various development projects with roaring success.

Mentioning some of the achievements, Ms Kawawa said there was an increase in the passing rate for Form Four results from 78.10 percent in 2015 to 84 percent in 2019 for Chalinze Constituency, while  Bagamoyo  Constituency had maintained first position in the country for Form IV national examinations results  for three years from 2017 to 2019.

“The government has released 2, 194,698,358/-to be used for a free education system in Bagamoyo Constituent and 3,755,374,699/-for Chalinze Constituent.

The two constituencies also received 1.7bn/-for the construction of four health centres whereby Bagamoyo Constituent received 900m/-and Chalinze Constituent received 800m/-.

She explained that water scarcity facing some of the areas of Chalinze Constituent had been dealt with to a large extent, giving an example of the two villages of Changarikwa and Kwaruhombo which had no access of safe and clean water for a number of years, but they were able to access it without any problem.  On the other hand, the challenge of water shortage which was facing the two villages of Mwidu and Kifuleta had also been dealt with.

Meanwhile, a water project worth $1,637,562 (about 3bn/-) has been completed and started operating in the Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA)  in the district.

On the other hand, she said 54 out of 74 villages in Chalinze Constituent (72 per cent) were accessing power through Tanesco.

She took time to congratulate Mr Ridhiwani  Kikwete and Dr Shukuru Kawambwa  on  working  hard in the supervision of the ruling party’s manifesto in the two constituencies as Members of Parliament.

In another development, the district’s ruling party chairman, Mr Abdul Sharif, warned party members who had started violating election regulations by campaigning for the coming general election, saying stern measures would be taken against them. The meeting was also attended by the district’s head of Government Department and Deputy Minister for Energy Subira Mgalu.
