AfricaPress-Tanzania: HIS GOVERNMENT has initiated reforms in the contribution systems of education delivery, infrastructure construction and in general investment in the entire education sector as well as the water sector in the country.

Speaking to the media in the city yesterday in his monthly schedule, the Chief Government Spokesperson, Dr. Hassan Abbasi said the government is implementing projects including the purchase of aircraft, ships, road construction and bridges and modern railways, but has not forgotten to implement service services. social as water and education.

Dr Abbasi said the government has made significant changes that have brought significant benefits to the education and water sector, which benefit the community and the nation as a whole.

He said in the education sector there has been a significant increase in funding from 2015 to February this year where it has provided Shs 1.291 trillion to fund free education from pre-school to form four to ensure thousands of those who lacked education have returned to school.

Free education has helped increase the number of beneficiaries of education from 8.2 million in 2015 to 10.9 million in 2020, as well as the number of children enrolled in first grade has increased from 1.3 million to 1.5 million.

“The number of students in secondary schools has increased from 1.6 million to 2.18 million and enrollment in Form Five has increased from 66,090 to 74,478.

The performance of Form Four has also increased from 68 percent to 85.8 percent and in parallel with the performance of Form Six from 97.94 percent to 99.51 percent, ”he explained.

Improvements in infrastructure construction including the construction of classrooms from 108,504 to 125,215 and 1,780 teachers’ houses have been built.

The government has also made major repairs to infrastructure in the old schools where out of 89 the oldest already 86 secondary schools have been upgraded including Ihungo secondary school, Kagera.

The government has also built laboratories in 1,696 secondary schools for science subjects, provided 26 vehicles for regional education officers, and another 184 for education monitors in Tamisemi and also provided 3,909 motorcycles for ward education officers.

The implementation has achieved water service success from an average of 47 percent in rural areas and an average of 74 percent in regional capitals in 2015 to an average of 72.3 percent in February 2021, still 13 percent reaching the rural target and an average of 86 percent where nine percent to achieve the target for regional capitals.

By implementing these projects, more than 12 million citizens had access to clean water in urban and rural areas by February 2021, but 1,845 projects of which 222 are urban and 1,623 are rural which is worth Shs 1.916 trillion.

“Currently work is underway in a total of 924 projects worth Shs 2.212 trillion where in urban areas there are 110 projects and in rural areas are 814 projects.

A total of 98 negligent executives have also been prosecuted and 59 contractors have had their contracts terminated where there were 177 substandard projects. So far 85 of these projects are already in operation and the rest will be completed in June.
