GRAND PROJECT TO STABILIZE POWER GENERATION.

AfricaPress-Tanzania: Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has said the Julius Nyerere hydropower project will stabilize the country’s electricity generation and provide an opportunity for export to neighboring countries.

He said the completion of the grand scheme will be a big step for the country’s development as electricity will be affordable to all citizens.

Mr Majaliwa was speaking at the launch of the diversion of water from its ordinary route to pave way for construction of the cofferdam at the dam on River Rufiji.

He said the project would immensely push the industrialisation agenda as cheap electricity would be available both to local and foreign investors.

He appealed to entrepreneurs to consider the project as an opportunity for them to launch development project in order to grow the economy.

The 6.55 trn/- hydropower plant has been fully sponsored by the government and generating employment to Tanzanians.
