AfricaPress-Tanzania: FAREWELL and well wishers flowed abundantly at the Zanzibar State House as ministers and executives gathered to say goodbye to President Ali Mohamed Shein.

Chief Secretary, Dr Abdulhamid Yahya Mzee, and ministers gathered, saying “Dr Shein has done a super job for Zanzibar, including infrastructural development, social services, good governance and accountability in public offices.”

Led by Second Vice-President Ambassador Seif Ali Iddi, the ministers praised Dr Shein saying they had learned a lot from his good leadership. The ministers also presented various gifts, including livestock.

For his part, President Ali Mohamed Shein said he had spent 10 years of leadership to improve Zanzibar economically, socially and politically, including maintaining peace and stability.

Dr Shein called on the State House staff to support the next President, noting that what Zanzibar needed was to enhance the main objectives of the 1964 Revolution, which included “people’s freedom and peace.”

“I have served you for 10 years. I hope my job was good. There are some ministers I pointed out and warned against violating regulations and being unethical. I wish you all well,” Dr Shein said, adding that he worked as a civil servant for 51 years, including being President.
