AfricaPress-Tanzania: PRIME Minister, Kassim Majaliwa on Mondayy handed over two vehicles to Lindi Regional Police Force to enable them ease providing more security to the residents.
The vehicles, Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup with registration number PT 2615 and Toyota Land Cruiser V6 registered as PT 4378, he said will assist the police to respond fast enough, where they help is sought.
One of the vehicles will go to Lindi Regional Police Commander and the other for Mtama police station.
Mr Majaliwa said the government will continue supporting the police force countyrwide as much as possible to enable them to carry out their duties effectively.
Speaking after receiving the vehicles, Lindi Regional Police Commander (RPC), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mtatiro Kitinkwi said the vehicles would enable their patrol operations to remote parts of the region.
“These vehicles you are handing over to us today will enable the operation of the police to transport suspects and patrols the areas given the geography of Mtama Council,” he said
However, he called upon the government to complete the construction of Mtama Police Station by installing necessary infrastructure for communication and fence it to look like barracks.
On his part, Mtama Constituency Member of Parliament, Nape Nnauye on behalf of the people thanked the government for providing them with the vehicles, adding they would support police in reinforcing security of the people and their property.
