AfricaPress-Tanzania: Deputy Minister of Works and Transport, Mwita Waitara said the road, electricity, communications, water and rail infrastructure in the country will last a long time if the builders of the infrastructure will cooperate during its construction.

He said this while opening the third Infrastructure Sustainability Conference in Dar es Salaam, saying the construction of participatory infrastructure is the solution to better infrastructure at all times.

“Make sure the builders of roads, railways, electricity, water and telecommunications projects communicate from the planning stage so that one type of infrastructure does not damage other infrastructure and cause recurring costs to the Government,”

He added that institutions building infrastructure working together at all stages can build their projects together and at a lower cost thus eliminating the inconvenience and damage to infrastructure.

He also commended them for organizing a forum for infrastructure stakeholders while urging them to find a lasting solution in the construction of infrastructure and reduce the Government’s high cost of building and renovating it regularly.

The Representative of the Director General of the Ports Authority in the country, Dr. Bonifasi Nobeji said the involvement of infrastructure builders contributes to the efficiency in the value chain in transport and supply services and thus helps the port industry to work more efficiently.
